health insurance nyc low income
I am thinking about volunteering for layoff. How much unemployment can someone expect to get?

I am also wondering, is someone on layoff able to get state help like Title 19, food stamps, etc if their income is low enough?
Besides less pay and no health insurance, what do people feel are the disadvantages of being laid off? I know that sounds stupid, but I’m trying to weigh my options because being laid off would mean I get to stay home with my son, have more time for school, and get to visit my boyfriend in NYC more often.

I live in Iowa if that makes the difference.

Thanks for your input!
This is NOT me trying to make life easier. I hardly call staying home with my son easy. I just figure I’ll be better off than most people who would otherwise be laid off if people don’t volunteer. Plus, this may be the perfect time to relocate because there are no other jobs around here.

Please do not ask hard working people if we think this would be an easier option for you.
