What type of health problems can house mold cause? And what can i do if my landlord wont do anything about it?
I live with 3 other roommates and our upstairs bathroom keeps growing A LOT of mold all over the ceiling and upper walls. I can see it coming from underneath the panel. So i complained to my landlord and they simply told me i need to clean my ceiling after every shower. This to me just seems ridiculous. I dont feel that it should be up to us to constantly cleans so much mold up. I can see it coming from behind the walls so their must me a lot of it. Next time i go to talk to my landlord about it i want more facts to back me up for instance, what the mold could cause to our health. Also, im curious if i am legally allowed to go any further with my complaints like to the health board? or just anywhere that willl get them to realize it is a major problem.
Mold can be toxic and cause serious health issuees, especially with lungs. Sometimes mold ingestion is fatal. I would definitely report it to your local health department and report it again IN WRITING to your landlord. It can be very costly cleaning up mold. If your landlord doesn’t take care of the situation, I would definitely MOVE. It certainly isn’t worth your health to stay there, is it? Just think of all the potential medical bills and physical discomfort if you stay there…
