health america insurance plans
How to you feel about insurers willing to accept all applicants IF the US gov’t mandates health care for all?

The health insurance industry said Wednesday that it would support a health care overhaul requiring insurers to accept all customers, regardless of illness or disability. But in return, the industry said, Congress should require all Americans to have coverage.

The proposals, put forward by the insurers’ two main trade associations, have the potential to reshape and advance the debate over universal health insurance just as President-elect Barack Obama prepares to take office.

In separate actions, the two trade groups, America’s Health Insurance Plans and the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association, announced their support for guaranteed coverage for people with pre-existing medical conditions, in conjunction with an enforceable mandate for individual coverage.

In the absence of such a mandate, insurers said, many people will wait until they become sick before they buy insurance.

hmm. here’s how i read this, “if you will guarantee us two or three times the money we already make, we’ll be willing to accept it.” sounds to me like federally sanctioned gangsterism.

i’m left wondering how i can get a piece of that sweet american pie. how can i convince the government to “require” all citizens to purchase my goods or services?

it’s become standard practice in american policy to let the people causing all the problems to devise solutions to the problem. a shady collection of people (insurers) prey upon folks fearful and in distress, for decades. the government’s solution? do they ban their practices? do they jail them? no, of course not, they give them contracts to devise solutions to the problem. kinda like rewarding those responsible for destroying our economy. who would do that?

the solution is simple, national health care.
